About
What is The Gratitude Tea?
The Gratitude Tea is an event centred around expressing thanks to someone you are grateful for having in your life. Whether they are a parent, sibling, friend, co-worker, or another family member, we want to give you an outlet to give thanks for how they have impacted your life.
The Gratitude Tea was started in 2006 by students at Centennial College and continues in the tradition of getting together before the holiday season to pass on thanks to a person you are grateful for while enjoying the company of others at a high tea ceremony.
Why are we continuing the tradition?
The first gratitude tea was held at Toronto’s Brasserie in November 2006. Carol Richardson, one of the guests, was honoured by her daughter, Melissa Feeney, who is an organizer of this year’s event. Sadly, Carol passed away tragically and unexpectedly on August 3, 2009. As part of continuing Carol’s legacy as a self-sufficient and empowered woman, we want to commemorate her strength and personality with a high tea for charity every year.
